Secondhand smoke: There is no safe amount

As a nonsmoker you don’t have to worry about lung cancer, right? Wrong. In fact, if you have repeated exposure to secondhand smoke, also known as environmental tobacco smoke (ETS), you could be putting yourself at risk for cancer and other health implications.

Secondhand smoke is a mixture of the smoke given off from the burning end of a cigarette, pipe or cigar (sidestream smoke) mixed with the exhaled smoke from a person smoking (mainstream smoke).

Second-hand smoking is a lot harder to do than first-hand smoking. You have to get someone to blow their used cigarette smoke into your throat. And if you are a dude, you can’t just ask another dude to blow smoke from his mouth into your moist, quivering lips without being called a gay or a queer.
The benefits of second-hand smoking are plentiful. First, you are reusing smoke and that helps the environment. Secondly, you are technically mooching and that saves you money. Finally, second-hand smoking is better for your health. Although it causes cancer, it causes less cancer than smoking straight from the cigarette.
The downfall of second-hand smoke, besides the gay thing, is that you don’t get your fill of nicotine. You have to smoke more secondhand in order to get your fix.

Protecting your kids from secondhand smoke takes only one step: Always step outside the home and the car before smoking.
